EXCLUSIVE: Alessio Fracchia – Best Actor of FFA’17 (Interview)

alessio1In February 2017, Alessio Fracchia won the award for Best Actor, in this year’s FanFilm Awards. Hosted in the city of Pasadena, Fracchia’s fanfilm, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Compass of the Seven Seas, was showcased at the Pasadena Central Library – and having an absent stage for his Q&A Panel, the Azure Lorica Foundation had to ship his trophy to Italy, after the ceremony. Fracchia was nominated for both Best Film and Best Actor, and was gracious enough to give us an exclusive interview, to publish for your enjoyment:

What was it like to be Jack Sparrow?

Being Jack Sparrow or better than Captain Jack Sparrow is a great satisfaction. Being able to play in a movie the same character played by Johnny Depp is really, very gratifying. This character is fun to play. He has a way of interacting with people around him (strangely). He is always drunk (and mimicking his facial gestures was a treat!). I grew up with the movies of the Pirates of the Caribbean, and seeing me on the screen, making a prequel of those movies was epic!

What helped you get into character?

For me it was not the first time I played Jack. I have been present in the world of “cosplay and comics” for several years, and I often played this character as a guest. What helped me more in the interpretation was surely seen many times in all the movies…and before every video shot, I drank a bit of RUM!!! Yes, drinking rum helped me a lot!

Were there any challenges during the film making of Pirates of the Caribbean: Compass of the Seven Seas?

alessio3There was no great difficulty during the shooting. We had a very skilled technical and artistic staff. We shot in three different places, passing from the sea to the castles in the mountains. Maybe the distance was the biggest problem.

As Best Actor, what aided you to reach your potential as a talent?

It was really a great satisfaction to achieve this target, and I still thank all those who allowed me to reach it and believe in me. Thanks to this award, many future prospects have opened up to me. In fact, I’m acting as a protagonist in a new movie, and I won several other awards in other movie festivals around the world.

What’s your next film?

At the moment i just finished shooting for the second episode of a zombie web series titled: ZERO, THE SERIES. The second episode will be dedicated to a famous role-playing game called ZOMBICIDE … and I assure you there will be great surprises! I am very excited to be able to bring this project to the 2018 Fan Film Awards.
